Clinton: Too much ethanol could lead to increased food costs and riots
Former President Bill Clinton is warning farmers not to use so much corn for ethanol fuel that it raises food prices and causes riots in other countries. You're too late there, cap'n.
Only the U.S. government can -- imagine this -- create a tortilla shortage in Mexico. Want to know why so many Mexicans hate America? We're burning their food in our gas tanks and then lecture them about global warming.
Consider this: There's not enough dry land on Planet Earth to grow the corn it would require to meet the energy needs of humans. It was a failed strategy before the government shucked its first ear.
Besides, I'd rather divert the ethanol to the liquor stores, preferably from aged barley and hops.
UPDATE: From a wise Facebook friend (and pledge brother of many years ago): "Barley is not aged it's malted. Hops are added for their bittering properties to balance out the sweetness of the malt." [Pav, I think we need to sample some of those malted barley and bittering hops soon just to be sure.]
